Experiment 1 - Testing Assumptions
Desired Outcomes
- Understanding of necessary sensors
- Consideration of mechanical designs for rover
- Able to collect sensor data reliability, allow for data processing and analytics
How?
- Simulating farming environments
- "Test farm" with variable temperature, humidity, light, etc...
- Design concept robot with sensor payload
- Try to measure data and do some processing
Experiment 2 - User Interviews
Desired Outcomes
- Develop better understanding of metrics necessary for small-scale farmers to improve water usage/crop output
- Emphasis on farms that currently don't have any data collection/analytics
How?
- Conduct 15 (total) interviews
- primarily local/small-scale farmers
- experts in fields
Sensor data needed:
- [x] moisture in soil
- [ ] ph of soil
- [x] gps
- [ ] nutrients in soil
- [ ] altitude
- [ ] air humidity
- [ ] temperature
- [x] light intensity
"Test farm" materials
- plastic container (wide)
- soil
- (peat) moss
- light source
